I'm new 😃

what should I expect?

Hi Welcome!

We’re Niel and Lawrise and together we lead Discovery Vineyard Church in Dundee. We’re a relatively new church based at the Menzieshill Community Hub and we meet every other week from 10.20am till 11.30am. If you would like to find out more about us check out our ‘about us’ page. But for those who want to find out a bit more about what a visitor might expect then do read on.

We know it can sometimes be scary to visit a new church – especially if you’ve never really been to church before.

Our services are informal and friendly, with a ‘family’ feel to them. People in the church are used to introducing themselves to visitors, so we hope that you'll be greeted by a friendly face as you arrive, and made to feel part of the family very quickly.

WHERE IS IT?

We hold our Sunday services at Menzieshill Community Hub, 260 Dickson Ave, Dundee DD2 4TQ. You head to the reception which is just as you come in, go straight ahead and then left up the stairs and right at the top of the stairs and we’re just along the corridor on the right. We’ve done a short video walkthrough on this page to show you where we meet in the building, do check it out.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

There’s no dress-code, so people come in comfortable, casual, everyday clothes.

BEFORE THE SERVICE

We begin to gather at the hub at 10:10am for a 10.30am service start. 10:10-10:30 is a window for getting to know and chat to members of the church over some coffee and pastries!

WHAT DO THE CHILDREN AND YOUTH DO?

Children and youth are really welcome! Our youth are encouraged to engage in the service alongside their weekly Friday night gatherings. Our kids are invited to remain with parents for part of worship and then they are welcomed to join our kids leader to engage with the Bible through craft and activities.

DURING THE SERVICE

Don't worry if you've never been to church before, or if you come from a different church background - we'll explain everything that's going on from the front of the church, so you're not expected to know everything in advance.

In brief, a typical service will include about 25 minutes of singing in worship, followed by one of our preachers teaching from a Bible passage. After the talk there may be what we call ministry time. Prayer ministry time is when anyone in the church is invited to come forward to the front if they’d like to respond to anything that was said or would like prayer for anything at all. Finally, the service leader will close the service with a prayer finishing by around 11.45am. Following the service more coffee and pastries are served.
